Want a surround sound TV experience with your smart home devices?

Couple watching TV

Want to start connecting your Echo devices to have a richer and more enjoyable sound experience while watching your favourite shows?

It’s really easy to do. Let’s start by adding your Echo devices. For an immersive experience I recommend:

2 Echo Studios

Immersive sound – 5 speakers produce powerful bass, dynamic midrange, and crisp highs. Dolby Atmos technology adds space, clarity, and depth.

1 Echo Sub

Echo Sub delivers down-firing, 100W deep bass sound through a 6″ woofer. Paired with two of the same Echo devices for rich left/right stereo sound.

1 Fire TV Stick

The 4K Fire TV Stick offers, a cinematic experience – Watch in vibrant 4K Ultra HD with support for Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10+ and immersive Dolby Atmos audio.

Let’s setup your Fire TV Stick.

You can use any model of Firestick and Echo, but I recommend getting the latest ones for better performance and compatibility If you have a 4K TV, get the 4K model, it’s well worth a few dollars more. You also need a Wi-Fi connection and a TV with an HDMI port.

  2. Plug your firestick into your TV’s HDMI port and connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your firestick account and preferences. Once that is setup, download your favourite streaming services and login.

Next, setup your Echo Devices.

  1. plug your echo devices into a power outlet and connect them to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Follow the voice prompts to set up each device with your echo account and preferences. If you like, you can also enable some skills and features from the echo app on your phone.
  3. Here’s the fun part. You can link your Fire TV Stick and Echo devices together to create a wireless surround sound system. To do this, open the Fire TV Stick app on your phone and tap on Settings. Then tap on TV & Video and select Fire TV. Tap on Link Your Alexa Device and follow the instructions to pair your firestick and echo devices.
  4. You can now use your voice to control your firestick with your echo device. For example, you can say “Alexa, play The Mandalorian on Fire TV” or “Alexa, pause Fire TV”. You can also adjust the volume, skip episodes, rewind, fast forward, and more.
  5. Next add your Echo devices as speakers for your firestick. Open the Fire TV Stick app on your phone and tap on Settings. Then tap on Display & Sounds and select Audio. Tap on Home Theater System and follow the instructions to connect your firestick and echo devices as speakers.

One final recommendation.

To more easily share the setup and control of your newly created surround sound entertainment system, you may want to consider adding a Fire Tablet. This will let you keep the setup and configuration in your TV room and allow all family members to easily access it when they need to.

Fire HD 8 Tablet

Fire HD 8 offers 8″ HD display and 2 GB RAM. Choose from 32GB or 64GB (up to 1TB of expandable storage via microSD card).

Enjoy your surround sound experience.

That’s all there is to it! You can now enjoy a great sound experience with your Fire TV Stick and Echo devices. You can watch your favourite movies and shows with immersive sound effects and clear dialogue. You can also listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more. To make things even better, Echo Studio is capable of processing Dolby Atmos sound, so it’s going to sound great!
